Weekend trip - Seso-ji, Asahi, Tokyo Sky Tree

I was way too tired yesterday to post about my day. Suffice to say it was pretty awesome :)

I met up with Andrea, Eric, Damian and 2 other girls at Kaminari gate near the Senso-ji temple.

We went along the street lined with shops to the temple itself. On the way there we stopped by to read out fortune, which was, unfortunately, very bad. But the description was very funny, so we just tied them up and moved on.

We randomly chose to eat takoyaki from a stall as our lunch and afterwards went to a famous cafe (apparently). We were going to eat the shaved ice. It was massive!!! The picture below is about 1/5 of the whole ting. I chose strawberry flavour with macha ice-cream.
There were some people from the local tv filming people eating the shaved-ice, so we agreed to be filmed (obviously ^_^). It seems Eric watches the chanel. We were told that the broadcast about this place will be next Friday. I wonder if our group would be shown or not.

We dropped by the Asakusa Culture and Tourism Center designed by Kengo Kuma several times because we could :)
We walked by at night as well. The curved edges created by the lights makes it look so much softer, compared to the sharp lines during the day.

Next up were the Asahi Beer buildings. Eric said that the buildings were designed to represent aspects of beer. Like the building on the left is supposed to be a beer glass ant the interesting windows on top are the foam. The gold blob on the central building is supposedly a flame, but I seriously can't see it.

We went up to the 22nd floor to get a drink at the bar. The view was amazing and the scenery gave a very relaxing feeling.
I don't really like beer so I chose to drink cider instead. But I did try a bit of Eric's beer and it was not as bad as others. Even the smell wasn't strong.
Next on the agenda was the Sky tree. We wanted to see the sunset over Tokyo.

It was a bit misty that day, so the sunset wasn't as impressive as it sometimes is, but it was still a truly amazing view. Tokyo is indeed a small country rather than a city. As far the eyes can see it is a sea of buildings.
The viewing platform we were on was on the 350th floor. The elevator goes up from 5th to 350th in 10 seconds. My brain doesn't register these numbers >_< There was one more platform somewhere on 450th floor, but we were pretty content with what we got.

On a lower deck there was a window you could step on and see just how high you were standing. Naturally, we started taking multiple shots of our shoes.

We finally got to see the night view of Tokyo.
Unfortunately, iphones are not very good at night scenes. But I'm not complaining since I got to see everything myself  ⁀_
